Doing your part for the environment
On average one third of all bee colonies die annually in the United States.
In some parts of China, there are no bees left to pollinate the flowers. Apple and pear trees are pollinated by humans using a paintbrush.
"If the bees disappeared off the face of the earth, man would only have four years to live."
Maeterlinck, The Life of the Bee
Honey and Beer
The fun part of the program is seeing the results nature has given us! Bottle your own unpasteurized honey, drink beer and socialize. Best of all, the honey is "Made in your backyard."
Personally labelled jars of honey advertise you are supporting the environment - one hive at a time.
Share the fun with the kids.
Join beekeeper Mark for learning about the fascinating life of honeybees. We've had a great time learning how to be comfortable around bees. Including the kids and dog. A great introductory course. I plan to do the bee splitting program.
I thought the Mentoring program was a valuable experience. Enjoyed learning in a group setting while having the opportunity to handle bees and learn from my own mistakes.
It is amazing how interesting the beehive is. So much to learn. Mark is a great mentor and will certainly do it again.
